Ski Clothing for
Adults and Children
Who we are and how we came about ...
We is really an 'I'. I am Estelle
Baynes, linchpin of Sur la Piste, ably assisted by a band of helpers who
are pressed into service during the winter months.
How - Sur la Piste was born
because I couldnt face another Clothes Marathon.
Living just 40 minutes from Glenshee
with two boys, it was inevitable that they would start their skiing in Scotland.
If you can learn to ski on the small
amount of snow that is the norm here, with more heather than snow visible.
Not being able to see beyond the end of your nose, the sky and land having
merged into one white amorphous landscape. You can ski anywhere! When we
do get good snow years (about one in three) we skiers feel we have died and
gone to heaven.
But I digress. When the time came
to fit the first pair of boots and skis and get the clothes, we struggled.
The boots and skis were easy, but not so the clothes. There just werent
enough shops within easy reach selling what I was looking for. Our buying
trip became a Major Expedition. With two children to kit out in warm enough
clothing that didnt make them look like Michelin men and unable to
move, I felt completely wrung out when I had finished.
I couldnt go through that again,
and decided that the simplest answer was to do something about it. Mulled
over the idea of mail order, thought of a name and set up in business.
My intention is to help other parents
who also dread the idea of taking their children on Clothes Marathons. I
hope that we succeed. If the therapists are to be believed, shopping for
the ski clothes should be almost as much fun as the holiday! To see how well
we have done click here.
We are here to help so if you need
to know anything about taking young children skiing, please email us info@surlapiste.co.uk
