Helmets & Hats - As up to 70% of your body heat escapes through your head a good well fitting hat or helmet is essential. Check with your resort, some are not allowing children on the slopes without a helpmet, and in Italy it is mandatory to wear one if you are under 14 years old. Masque - On very cold days a masque keeps the face warm and prevents the cheeks and lips from chapping. Another option is a neck chube, although this can make your goggles steam up because there are no air holes for your breath to escape from. A good quality high factor sunscreen should be applied underneath the masque or chube to maintain moisture in the skin. Balaclava Buffs from £14.00
Gloves & Mittens - Hands also need covering up. Young children and beginners whose hands feel the cold are better off wearing a mitten with a lining glove which allows for easy finger movement to keep hands warm. Mittens are generally warmer in extremely cold conditions. Gloves & Mittens from £13.00 Goggles & Sunglasses
