credit card fraudsters
Recent statistical analysis information shows
that credit card fraud for telephone and internet purchases is up by a third.
This information in itself is misleading and needs some explanation. The majority
of fraudsters get hold of the name, number and expiry date of genuine card holders
from discarded receipts, or through payment at restaurants when cards are taken away
from the owner for checking. There are even some people in this world who will scavenge
through rubbish tips looking for old receipts, and will then either use that information
themselves or sell it to someone else. We are not careful enough in the way that we dispose
of unwanted receipts, and should either burn them or shred them. Card information
provided through internet sites is scrambled and very safe, and with the introduction of the
numbers on the signature strip, (information not available on receipts) buying on the internet
is even more secure.
It has now been established that buying over the internet is very much safer than handing
your credit card to a shop assistant or waiter. Some studies say over 100 times safer!
In order to maximise your security
your credit card details are encrypted when they leave your computer and
the exercise is not reversed until they reach us. In this way if anyone should
intercept your order they would be unable to read the details. By giving
us a landline telephone number (which is traceable) we can also make checks
to ensure that our customers match their credit cards, thereby protecting
you and your money.
